2011 News from Clancy Law Firm
Both Michael and Wendell were named again to the list of Illinois Super Lawyers for 2011. Each year, the Super Lawyers organization undertakes a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by an attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.
Both Michael and Wendell were also named again to the list of 2011 Leading Lawyers.
2010 News from Clancy Law Firm
In December of 2010, Michael was invited to become a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America. Fellowship in LCA, an honorary trial lawyer society composed of less than 1/2 of one percent of admitted American lawyers, is by invitation only.
In December of 2010, Michael spoke at a continuing legal education program sponsored by the Kane County Bar Association on the new Illinois Rules of Evidence. The event drew approximately 200 attendees.
In September of 2010, Wendell was appointed by Kane County Board President Karen McConnaughay to a committee to select a short list of candidates for appointment as Kane County States Attorney following John Barsanti's appointment to the position of Associate Judge. He was subsequently elected Chairman of the committee, which completed its work in early November of 2010 by sending a list of two names to President McConnaughay. Joseph H. McMahon, one of the committee's finalists, was appointed to the position.
In 2010, Wendell was named one of the top 100 trial lawyers in Illinois by The Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He joins Michael, who was first named to the list in 2009.
Clancy Law (CLO) is proud to announce that Wendell and Michael were selected as Illinois Super Lawyers for 2010 for the fifth straight year. In addition, Super Lawyers named Michael as one of the top 100 attorneys in Illinois for 2010. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers.
Michael and Wendell have become Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. This makes them one of the few father/son duos who have been invited to join the ACTL in the country. Wendell was inducted in a ceremony which took place in Palm Desert, California during the Spring, 2010 meeting of the College and Michael was inducted during the Fall, 2008 meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship. Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,675 members in the United States and Canada, and about 280 members in Illinois. Read more in an article from Illinois Lawyer Now Weekly.
